You don’t have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars and travel hundreds or thousands of miles to have a great vacation. Having lived in St. Louis most of or all of your life, you may not remember all of the great attractions that exist within a short drive. The real bonus is that you’ll save a ton of money on lodging and food because your staying at your own place! Here are our top 5 attractions for a St. Louis staycation (narrowing it to 5 is really difficult!):

#5.  St. Louis Art Museum – The museum is world class. The most amazing thing is that general admission is free to the public. You may have to purchase a ticket to the special exhibits, but they are very affordable.

#4.  The Muny – Whether you are into musicals or not, The Muny is worth checking out.  It is America’s oldest and largest musical theatre. Ticket prices start as low as $15 for most shows!

#3.  Busch Stadium/ Cardinals Game – Baseball fan or not, they don’t call Busch Stadium “baseball heaven” for no reason. It’s a great place to watch a game, grab a bite and meet a few new friends while you’re at it. Ticket prices vary based on day and opponent, but you can usually find very affordable seats somewhere.

#2.  The City Museum – The City Museum is essentially a huge playground for kids, and adults. If you’ve never been, you need to go! The museum is largely constructed out of repurposed industrial materials turned playground. General admission is $14 and access to some areas will cost just a little bit more, but it’s totally worth it.

#1.  The Saint Louis Zoo – The Saint Louis Zoo continues to rack up the accolades; including recently being voted Best Zoo and America’s Top Free Attraction.  The zoo is so great that visitors come from all over. With an admission price tag of FREE, it’s hard to beat. Plan on spending hours and hours exploring and watching all of the animals. No staycation would be complete without a trip to the Saint Louis Zoo.
